Welcome To My New Home!!!

Yes friends. The time is nearly upon us. 2009 definitely came and went pretty qucikly, wouldn’t you say? It began with such promise and I dare say to this point, it really has been the best year for music that I can remember in quite a while. That said, it’s about the time when all of us music geeks start looking over our I-Tunes libraries and cd collections and pick out the records that made our hair stand on end over the past year. I’ve got a few records that immediately come to mind and I’m sure those of you who have paid attention have a pretty good idea as to which ones those are.

I plan on doing a best of list very soon but I’m also interested in hearing from all of you, my dear friends. Let’s make things interesting, shall we? I’m interested in doing a readers’ best of. Go ahead and send me your top 20 records of the year between now and December 1st. I will tally up the submissions and post the final poll when I post mine. Do it up and it should be lots of fun.

A word to the wise. Any votes for Lady Gaga will immediately be disallowed as will the rest of your submission. There has to be some quality control here.

Hello Suede-heads!

It’s been a long while now since my last post. Where have I been? Alas, I have been without internet access the last week or so. It appears that I’m one of those people who are apparently still living in 2003 and still does not own a laptop. This being the case I am relegated to making use of the local internet cafes. How quaint! At any rate, I wanted to let you all know that the site is not dead and neither am I, your humble servant. I will be back very soon with some quality melodic goodness. Until then…

Hello gang!

Sorry for the lack of posts recently. The Suede HQ is preparing as best as possible for an untimely and unexpected relocation. Yes indeed, I’ve gotta leave my place. So while I get my things together and figure out my next step, I realise I’ve left you guys stranded a bit. Please do accept my apologies. My posts may be spaced out a bit but I’m not leaving the blogosphere!

I’ve got a crush.  Actually it’s fair to say I’ve got quite a few. I mean there’s Lily Allen and her ultra-cute rambunctiousness but she’s too big time now and she’s still Keith Allen’s daughter. There’s Karen O but supposedly she’s in Silverlake these days and that’s just way too plastic a scene for me and I fear it may have corrupted her. Here’s hoping I’m wrong on that score. This now leaves my current flame, Philippa “Pip” Brown aka Ladyhawke. If you don’t know who Ladyhawke is then you should be ashamed for she recently released a quite delectable debut record a few months back via Modular aka the best label on the planet. Her self-titled debut was also featured as one of my best records of 2008. 

Why do I like Ladyhawke so much, you ask? Well, I will tell you. What’s not to like? From her shameless fangirl-ish enthusiasm for all things Stevie Nicks to the fact she has no qualms whatsoever about letting us see how much of a geek she is. I mean, look at her album cover below. She’s playing video games with her oh-so-cute cat by her side whilst in her pajamas. I ask you again. What is there not to love about that?

Of course, I could just be rambling and spitballing here but yes, I want a date with Ladyhawke. Is that too much to ask for? I really don’t think so. We’ll go on for hours talking about whether or not it was truly was after watching the video for Stand Back for the first time that the thought of becoming a pop star actually dawned on her. I’ll talk about my purely healthy and innocent Smiths obsession and we can totally geek out on video games. Think she’ll be up for it?

Friends. This is the BlackBerry Storm. It’s the first BlackBerry phone with a touchscreen. Oh! It’s not any old touchscreen. No, no, no, no! This touchscreen actually has springs underneath which allows only the most efficient touch response in the industry! Why do I bring this up? Well, it’s quite simple, really. I WANT ONE! Here’s the deal. I had an LG VXwhateveritwas and left it accidentally on the Long Island Rail Road heading home one night. Naturally I freaked out once I realised my plight. If you know anything about New York City Transit then you know that’s a hopeless proposition to even allow the thought of getting the phone back from the lost and found to even enter one’s mind. Needless to say I was bummed. 

Long story short, I ended up getting an LG Voyager (with a touchscreen) with an early upgrade. I thought I was happy with that until Murphy’s Law stepped in and only but a few short months later…the announcement of a brand new BlackBerry made the rounds and I’m stuck with a phone that seemed cool at the time but would be rendered obsolete within a couple of months. 

I know what you’re thinking. Gee, Billy, just go and buy the Storm. Well, you see, dear reader. I would but I can’t upgrade again for another two years! Quel dommage! So any of you out there who can give me ideas on how to get my paws on a Storm and get it hooked up with Verizon, I will be eternally thankful!

Limp Bizkit’s back. Yes, that’s right. Fred Durst and his motley crew of neanderthal blockheads are back to rock soccer moms and the fratboys they married. Apparently there will be a new record (OH JOY!) and a world tour to boot. If there’s a reason to give up music appreciation immediately, this is it. 

Chocolate Starfish? I guess being a movie director wasn’t quite working out for Fred and the other guys needed a check?
