ibiza! here i come!

Well, last year it was acceptable in the eighties and in the new year, Calvin Harris is stepping his game up. He’s gone back into the time machine and dialed it up to 1989. This is the brand new single I’m Not Alone from his highly anticipated sophomore release. This makes me feel like dancing up until the end of the clip where Annie Mac (who I heart) starts talking but it’s not enough to make you want to drop a couple of tabs of E and dance like you were square in the middle of the Hacienda.

Err….This isn’t to say I’m advocating the use of drugs or anything…I was simply making a point that it might make you…feel like…happy and stuff. You know…euphoric? Oh never mind…

pro + con = procon

From the Great White North comes ProCon, a maelstrom of synth and sass. A plethora of guitars and pomp. A healthy battle waged between the forces of pop and the forces of punk with a generous dose of gooey sex to calm the nerves. Hailing from Toronto, the duo made up of the Countess Christsmasher (vocals, synths) and Count Feedback (guitars, synths), ProCon is coming on fast in this electronic renaissance sweeping across the blogosphere. They recently released their new album entitled Kingmaker (Ginchopolis) to rave reviews and a nice feature in Toronto’s Eye magazine.

Kingmaker simply rocks. It’s got attitude. It’s got pizazz. It will leave you soaking wet. It does what every good record is supposed to do. They’ll be heading down to the States towards the spring for a few dates and I don’t think I need to tell you that they are a must-see live. Do it! Support them. Become familiar with them. Love them. Hear more at their MySpace.

oh happy day!

For those of you who haven’t rushed out and bought the UK import as yet, the White Lies debut record To Lose My Life is slated to be released Stateside on St Patrick’s Day, the 17th of March. The album soared straight to number on in the UK midweek charts so good one, boys! What a great day St. Patty’s Day is shaping up to be! The Courteeners at Mercury Lounge and the release of what might be the best debut record we’ll hear in 2009! I wish I were Irish.

for the love of god…

Friends don’t let friends dress up like Pete Wentz…

That’s it.
